Balbi Soprani enhances the personality of the great native Piedmont varieties by paying the utmost attention to highlighting the uniqueness and originality of each territory, a priceless wine heritage.
Barolo, Barbaresco, Dolcetto d’Alba and Nebbiolo d’Alba are Langhe wines that come from marly and calcareous soils that yield long-lived and extremely elegant wines thanks to their natural characteristics.
Barbera d’Asti exclusively comes from vineyards in the best locations in the Asti area. From hills that are historically suitable to producing this wine come extraordinary grapes with intense fruit.
TERRE DEL GAVI
Gavi is the fruit of the homonymous territory located on the border between Liguria and Piedmont: a “rising” white wine that brings freshness and elegance to the table.
Roero Arneis is from Roero, the hills on the left bank of the Tanaro River. Its sandy and chalky soils enhance the wine’s mineral notes and floral scents.
Brachetto d’Acqui grapes are grown in the areas surrounding the city of Acqui Terme, in the province of Alessandria, home to the native and aromatic Brachetto, endowed with exquisite sweetness and elegance.
Moscato d’Asti and Asti Spumante are the legendary pride of hills suitable to the cultivation of Moscato Bianco. A vast area of steep hilly ridges and enchanting small valleys, located between the provinces of Cuneo, Asti and Alessandria, whose capital is Santo Stefano Belbo, where part of Balbi Soprani vineyards can be found.
THE NEW LABELS
A book must not be judged by its cover, but it certainly is how one shows himself to the world. Similarly, the labels of Balbi Soprani wines are the “cover” that show how these wines present themselves on the tables of restaurants and wine bars.
Balbi Soprani’s image has undergone a careful restyling, after a detailed and meticulous image study conceptualized, designed and “customized” by Giacomo Bersanetti of SGA, one of the most famous and beloved Italian wine designers. For this project, SGA was inspired by the vineyard and modern minimalism. On the one hand, the natural artistic complexity of the vine, and on the other, an essential, clean and “geometric” art that is still strongly linked to reality, to the natural elements of wine.
The ideas came from the vine plant itself and from the works of the famous, visionary and communicative Dutch artist, Piet Mondrian, of the “Neoplasticism” movement. A new logotype and new labels emerged from this study: a single discourse that unfolds seamlessly.
SGA's report explains how the visual project for Balbi Soprani was born: “The new symbol is a monogram, a graphic stylization of the initial letters of Balbi Soprani. It is characterized by a simple style that is consistent with the image of the labels (…) like a brand that marks the wines, recounting the meticulous work carried out in the vineyard and in the cellar”. The flawless representation of the permeation between wine and visual communication, whose fruit – the bottles of Balbi Soprani – perfectly stands on a restaurant table or a wine bar shelf.
